Victorino Family Luna
My story as an audiologist started in 2009 when I met Donna Carkeet, an Australian missionary who was giving support, talks, and assistance in our community. This missionary dedicated most of her time in the Chavon neighborhood, a marginalized and very poor neighbourhood on the outskirts of the city of Santo Domingo. It was a very hostile community due to the fact that a lot of young people were deep in the world of drugs and delinquency. The Lord sent Donna to us to rescue the youth of that neighbourhood and give us a future that we would not have been able to dream of. God bless her for rescuing me, making me a better person, and giving me a future. Through the EARS Inc. audiology training program, she taught me for three years, gave me a profession and the ability to help my family and others in my community. Since 2014, I have worked as a Hearing Care Professional at CCSM (Centro Cristiano de Servicios Medicos) where people with little money can be helped. Today I can say that I can serve others like she served me.
