Papua New Guinea Update

Desmond and Jane are incredibly busy people who have added studying the Diploma in Audiometry through TAFE to their already full lives. We are supporting them by providing practical training and workplace supervision for them during this time. Both are employed by our partner organization Callan Network Services as trainers, they support the continual development of the resource centre staff in eye and ear screening. So, getting in their diaries with the amount of work they have has not been easy, but as they have not planned the next quarter yet, we were able to sit with our diaries and try to map out our next training trip as well as online meetings.

I was also able to coordinate with a volunteer when she is available and lock in some dates for us to have volunteer Mahes to visit PNG for training. We are still finalizing these plans, but I feel confident that they are motivated to complete their course work on time and to meet regularly to do our practical workshops.

This is a big project and will require many hands, which means meeting, planning, project writing, budgeting and fundraising. It also means many hours of work on top of my already busy schedule. As my financial support is not being raised at present, I am still needing to work in Australia as much as possible in between projects. I have been blessed with some locum work this month, which is allowing me to catch up on bills, but is also drawing focus away from the project writing and curriculum development work.

Sometimes when I see how big the need is and I feel completely overwhelmed, but then I see God at work in the timing and preparation of the people. Please pray for EARs as we embark on this new adventure. Also pray for the volunteers.
